Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about WagerAdvice.
Getting Started
What are the Model, the Playbook and the Oracle?
Every game is examined through three lenses, each with its own approach. The Model is the set of quantitative engines our founder has been building for over a decade: projected scores, win probabilities and edges against the bookmaker. The Playbook is a library of backtested segments that have been profitable in the past; a Playbook play qualifies on its proven pattern, not the day's model math. The Oracle is our founder's years of experience, knowledge and intuition, acting live: vetoes, Pro Tips and hand-selected VIP plays. Cards label which lens made each call, and the full guide lives at wageradvice.com/three-lenses.
What is WagerAdvice?
WagerAdvice is an AI-powered sports betting decision-analysis platform. We run 7 proprietary sport engines across 14 leagues that analyze team performance, player statistics, injuries, weather, officiating crews and live market odds to identify value. Every published pick is filtered through named consensus segments that were each profitable across multi-season backtests. The full rules, records and changelog are public on our Methodology page.
Is WagerAdvice a sportsbook?
No. We never accept, process or facilitate wagers, and we have no sportsbook affiliation. We provide analysis to inform decisions you make elsewhere, entirely at your own discretion and risk.
Who is WagerAdvice for?
People who already wager on sports and want better decision tools. We do not advocate sports betting, and we say so plainly: this is an industry where roughly 95% of bettors lose money. Our mission is to improve the ROI of people who would be betting anyway. If you do not already bet, we would rather you keep it that way.
Which sports and leagues do you cover?
Full analysis and recommendations: NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and UFC/MMA. Analysis and projections without recommended wagers (while our public evaluation continues): Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Champions League, Europa League, and ATP and WTA tennis. A league only graduates to recommended wagers after its model proves itself.
How does the 7-day free trial work?
Sign up for any plan and get full access for 7 days at no charge. You can cancel anytime during the trial with no obligation. Signup includes our terms agreement and a required read-through of The Wager Bible, our responsible-betting rulebook.
Plans, Queries & Billing
What plans are available and what do they cost?
Starter ($39/mo): 30 queries and the four major US sports. Pro ($69/mo): 150 queries and every public league. Elite ($129/mo): unlimited queries, every league, and premium features like Oracle Pro Tips and VIP Bonus Plays included. Annual billing reduces these to the equivalent of $29, $49 and $99 per month. The price shown at checkout always controls.
What is a query?
Queries are the usage currency on your plan. Revealing a game's full analysis costs 1 to 3 queries depending on the play's strength, and an AI chat question costs one query. Premium unlocks cost more: an Oracle Pro Tip is 10 queries and an Oracle VIP Bonus Play is 20, each charged only once per item. Elite and Oracle members have unlimited queries and get the premium content included.
What are Oracle Pro Tips?
Hand-written tips The Oracle attaches to specific recommendation boxes to improve wager selection or entry, for example advice on buying a key number. They appear as a flashing purple button only on cards that have one. Included for Elite and Oracle members; other tiers can unlock a tip for 10 queries, once, permanently.
What are Oracle VIP Bonus Plays?
Rare, hand-selected plays offered outside the model's public record, each with the match, the bet, the odds and optionally The Oracle's angle. A flashing banner appears on your dashboard only while one is active. Included for Elite and Oracle members; 20 queries for other tiers. Their win-loss record is tracked openly on the Oracle Plays page and is kept separate from the model's public track record.
Can I change or cancel my plan?
Yes, anytime from your account settings. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period.
What happens to my Bet Log if my subscription lapses?
Nothing is deleted. Your logged bets remain saved and visible read-only; logging new bets resumes when you upgrade again.
Is there a referral program?
Yes. Referred subscriptions earn you free service periods after a hold window confirms the referral. Details are on the Refer & Earn page and in the referral terms.
Picks & the Model
How are predictions generated?
Eight sport-specific engines project scores and win probabilities using methods like Poisson scoring models, player-projection systems, xG-based soccer analysis and market-informed calibration. On top of the projections, submodels adjust for injuries, travel fatigue, back-to-backs, trench matchups, officiating crews and more. A pick is only published when it also passes one of our backtested consensus segments.
What is a value play?
A game where our model's probability meaningfully exceeds the probability implied by the bookmaker's odds. The gap is the edge, shown as a percentage on each card.
What do the stars mean?
Edge strength on a 1 to 5 scale, from Slight Edge to Elite Edge. Stars reflect how large and well-supported the edge is, not a guarantee of the outcome.
What are the units on a pick?
Suggested stake sizing derived from the Kelly criterion, capped conservatively. One unit means 1% to 2% of a disciplined bankroll. The Wager Bible covers how to set your own unit size.
What is the difference between a green play and a yellow advisory play?
Green means a qualified, tracked recommendation: it is frozen at its first-seen odds and graded on the public record. Yellow is an early-season advisory or informational lean: the full analysis is shown, but it is not a tracked wager, usually because teams have not yet played the league minimum this season for our data standards.
What is the early-season rule?
We do not publish tracked recommendations until both teams have played a league minimum of regular-season games (for example 3 in the NFL, 10 in the NBA and NHL, 15 in MLB). Until then plays display as yellow advisories. Preseason games never count toward the minimum and never carry recommendations at all.
Why does a game show NO BET or no play?
Most games simply have no qualifying edge, and we say so rather than manufacture a pick. Some show a purple Oracle Playbook Rule box: a standing rule fired, for example a Pedigree rule that never bets against certain franchises, or the divisional totals rule. A no-play call is a result of the process, not a gap in it.
What is an Oracle Veto?
A human override. When The Oracle vetoes a model recommendation before the match starts, the card shows a purple veto banner with the reasoning, and the play is withdrawn as a tracked wager. Vetoes are tracked and scored transparently: the public record shows a veto chip on the affected row, and we grade whether the veto or the model was right.
Why are there no over/under (totals) recommendations?
Standing policy: totals wagers are off across the platform while our totals models remain in private evaluation. The public Totals Radar shows where our projected total diverges from the book total as reference information only, never as a recommendation.
Can a published recommendation change?
A qualified recommendation is frozen at its first-seen side and odds, permanently. Later line moves or model updates never rewrite it. It can only be voided for integrity reasons (the matchup ceased to exist, the game never played, or the qualification was invalid). Informational leans, which are not tracked wagers, can change as data changes, and cards leave the board once a game starts.
What happens when a game is postponed or canceled?
The wager is voided: the row stays visible as a notation, the stake is treated as returned, and it is never graded as a win or loss.
How often is everything updated?
Odds refresh hourly (with faster windows near football kickoffs), data pipelines run nightly, results are fetched and graded every morning, and the slate recomputes throughout the day. Each card shows how fresh its book line is.
Track Record & Integrity
How do I know the track record is honest?
Every qualified pick is frozen at first sight with its odds, timestamped, and written to an append-only, hash-chained ledger whose Merkle root is published in the site footer and independently verifiable. Nightly automated audits recount the served record against the ledger and page us on any drift. Losing picks are never deleted.
What are the Published and Raw views on the track record?
Published is the record after our documented suppression rules (all enumerated on the Methodology page). Raw shows the record with every rule turned off, including the headline difference between the two, so you can verify the rules are not cherry-picking.
Do vetoed or voided wagers count in the record?
A wager vetoed before match start, or voided, never counts as a recommended wager on the record. The rows are never deleted; they remain visible with a clear notation. Exclusion requires proof the veto came before the game started; without that proof the wager keeps counting, because dropping a loss without proof would read as cherry-picking.
What is the Insider Breakdown?
A pre-game written analysis for each match, produced and fact-checked through a five-department editorial pipeline that verifies rosters, starters and claims before publication. Breakdowns receive timestamped updates when circumstances change, and after the game the original stays archived on the record exactly as written before kickoff.
Do you publish your projection accuracy?
Yes. The Projection Accuracy page shows graded, season-by-season accuracy for markets that have accumulated enough sample, and the Methodology page carries the model records. Where sample is still immature we say so instead of publishing noise.
Tools & Features
What is Streakers?
A feed of teams (and UFC fighters) on verified winning or losing streaks of 3 or more games (2 or more in the NFL), matched to their next upcoming game inside a short window, with historical streak-break probabilities.
What is the Totals Radar?
A reference tool listing games where our projected total diverges from the book total beyond league-specific thresholds, shown as points and percentage over or under. It carries no recommendations by policy.
What is My Bets?
A personal bet log. One tap logs a WagerAdvice pick, or enter your own bets in any odds format. It auto-settles logged picks from graded results, tracks your bankroll and ROI against our recommended sizing, exports to CSV, and includes discipline nudges when it spots loss-chasing patterns.
What is the AI chat?
An assistant that answers questions about specific matchups and slates using our model outputs, for example asking for the best value plays in tonight's NHL games. Each question uses one query.
What is The Wager Bible?
Our free responsible-betting rulebook: bankroll management, flat sizing, the Ten Commandments of discipline, and when to walk away. Every new member reads it at signup, and it is linked in the footer for everyone.
Can I save games I care about?
Yes, star any card to add it to your Favorites page.
Account, Data & Responsible Betting
Do you guarantee winning picks?
No, and you should not trust anyone who does. Our models identify statistical edges; sports outcomes are inherently uncertain and every wager carries risk of loss. Past results are not indicative of future results. Never bet more than you can afford to lose.
Can I share my account?
No. Accounts and content are for a single member's personal use, per the Terms of Use. Sharing or republishing our analysis is grounds for termination.
What if some data on a card is wrong?
We aggregate odds, injuries, weather, rosters and schedules from multiple sources with layered verification, and we correct errors aggressively, but no data pipeline is perfect and the Terms disclaim liability for data errors. If you spot something off, email support and it will be investigated. When we cannot verify something, our policy is to show nothing rather than something wrong.
What are the age and location requirements?
You must be of legal age for your jurisdiction (21+ in most US states, 19+ where applicable) and located somewhere our service is permitted. Some states are blocked at signup.
Can I export or delete my data?
Yes. Your account section provides a full data export and account deletion, and the privacy policy describes exactly what we store.
What is your stance on gambling?
We do not advocate sports betting. Do not FOMO into gambling because you found a kick-ass website with kick-ass tech. WagerAdvice is built for people who already wager. Our corporate mission is to give sports bettors decision-analysis tools that improve their ROI. If you do not already bet, we would rather you keep it that way.
Where can I get help with problem gambling?
If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, call or text 1-800-GAMBLER. It is free, confidential and available 24/7. Set a losing limit and a time limit before you start; if wagering stops being fun or you hide it from people you love, stop and make that call. That call is strength, not weakness.
How do I contact support?
Email support@wageradvice.com. Include your account number (shown in your account section) for faster billing help.
